Hey, tradespeople!

Do you like to win door prizes, get free food and make connections that can build your career? If so, don’t miss Construction Trades Job Fair taking place in Burnaby on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Organized by affiliate unions of the BC Building Trades Council, the fair will be held at the International Union of Operating Engineers Hall at 4333 Ledger Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Exhibitors include at least 10 construction trade unions.

Trades workers – and those thinking about getting into a trade – are invited to bring a resumé and any questions they might have about the skilled construction trades.

“This is a great chance to connect with people in the industry and find out what opportunities there are in the skilled construction trades in B.C.,” said Byron Rilling, of the United association (UA) Canada, which represents workers in the piping industry.

B.C. is facing a major skills shortage, with about 22 per cent of the current construction workforce expected to retire by 2028. Demand for workers and the “earn while you learn” nature of apprenticeship are just two reasons the skilled trades are great career choices.
